As the sun shone brightly today over the picturesque campus of Jain University, the excitement was in the air. The 13th Annual Convocation for Jain University was underway, and the who’s who of the academic world had gathered to celebrate the achievements of the graduating students.
Among the invited dignitaries was Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe who represented the Minister Hon. Elvis Nkandu as Chief Guest of honor at the event and Jain University Vice Chancellor Dr. Raj Singh was at hand to host the visiting dignitaries in Bengaluru, India.
Mr. Chileshe was impressed by the grandeur of the ceremony, the resplendent robes of the faculty members, and the proud faces of the graduands and their families. As he took his seat, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride knowing that this moment marked the culmination of the University’s years of hard work, dedication, and academic achievement for these young Indian men and women.
Accompanying the Permanent Secretary were Ministry officials; Ms. Esther Ng’ambi -Director of Arts, Ms. Abigail Malukutila -Director of Human Resource and Administration – NYDC, Ms. Nasiba Nyambe – Chief Sport Development Officer, Ms. Susan Munalisa – Acting Chief Youth Development Officer, Ms. Kangwa Mubanga- Principal Planner and Ms. Norah Bbuku 1st Secretary Immigration from the Embassy of Zambia in India.
As the ceremony progressed, the graduands were called upon stage one by one to receive their degrees, each one beaming with pride over their academic achievements.384 graduates were drawn from the department of Humanities and Social Science, while 120 students got Sports Achiever Awards.
The Ministry’s attendance at the event augmented Government’s efforts to working with Jain University who have partnered with the Ministry to sponsor online skills training programmes to 500,000 students in batches of 50,000 per intake in various skills to be conducted through the Ministry’s Youth Resource Centers. In addition, Jain will provide internet connectivity, laptops and solar equipment to facilitate online training.
This partnership will empower Zambian youths and provide them with the tools they need to succeed which has ignited hope for a brighter future.
The prestigious event which started on the 22nd will end on 24th November, 2023 at the Prestige Srihari Khoday Centre for Performing Arts in Bengaluru, India.
