President Hichilema noted that Government has taken a proactive stance to review the National Anti corruption policy to combat corruption.
He said young people are advocates for social change and have to be engaged effectively in the fight against corruption. Urging institutions and individuals involved in procurement and those that award Government contracts not to engage in any corruption.
President Hichilema was speaking at the 2023 National Anti – Corruption Day which was organised by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and its stakeholders .
ACC Chairperson Musa Mwenya called on the need to introspect and find new effective ways to fight corruption and the strategic plan 2022 – 2026 was also launched at the same event.
Mr. Mwenya said the framework will guide the commission in decision making and resources mobilization. United Nations – UN Resident Coordinator Beatrice Mutali called on Governments that have ratified the convention to adopt innovative strategies that promote fighting corruption from all fronts that include the preventative aspects and criminal prosecution but must not end there because the convention promotes effective aspects of prevention.
Officers from Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts were among the exhibitors.
The event was commemorated under the theme “UNCAC At 20 : Uniting the World against corruption.I am pleased and proud that the Zambia athletics has continued to push the agenda of growing marathons across the country and the support of corporate sponsors.
I am informed that events such as this one are qualifiers for global marathons and races as they meet the world athletics requirements and attract local and international runners. The event had about 2000 participants that competed in physical and virtual run. I am pleased to note that the funds raised from events will go towards the of athletics in the country.
