Youth, Sport and Arts, Minister Honourable Elvis C. Nkandu, MP, has congratulated Zambian Mixed Martial Arts athlete Miracle Chipito for winning a silver medal at the 2025 IMMAF World Championships held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Chipito produced an impressive run throughout the tournament, culminating in a hard-fought final against Poland’s Katarzyna Kowalska, where she narrowly missed out on gold after a spirited performance that went the distance. Her achievement marked a historic moment for Zambia, as she becomes the first Zambian MMA athlete to reach and medal in a World Championship final.
Honourable Nkandu praised Chipito for her dedication, skill, and fighting spirit, noting that her success reflects the rapid rise and growing competitiveness of Mixed Martial Arts in Zambia.
The Minister also congratulated Tryford Mwaanga, who secured a bronze medal after an outstanding campaign that concluded with a valiant effort against England’s Qudrat Safi. He commended both athletes for raising the Zambian flag high on the global stage, demonstrating that Zambia continues to produce world-class talent across diverse sporting disciplines.
Government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, remains proud of all athletes who represented the country in Georgia and reaffirms its commitment to consistently supporting both established and emerging sports. Honourable Nkandu encouraged other competitors to build on the experience gained from the tournament and come back stronger in future competitions.
