The Government has congratulated the Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team, the Copper Princesses, following their qualification to the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Mr. Kangwa Chileshe, on behalf of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Patron, President Hakainde Hichilema, conveyed Government’s congratulations to the team, describing the achievement as a proud moment for Zambia.

Mr. Chileshe commended the players for their commitment and determination throughout the qualifiers, while recognising the contribution of the technical bench, Football Association of Zambia, families, supporters and all those who have played a role in guiding the team to this milestone.

“On behalf of the FAZ Patron, His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, we extend our sincere congratulations to the Copper Princesses for this remarkable achievement. Their qualification is a source of pride for the nation and reflects the hard work, discipline and commitment demonstrated by the players and everyone who has supported their journey,” Mr. Chileshe said.

He said the achievement highlights the growing depth of talent within Zambia’s women’s football and reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that provide young athletes with platforms to develop their abilities and compete at the highest level.

The Copper Princesses secured their place at the global tournament after defeating Ethiopia 3-2 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers.
